Be Encouraged

Our mission is to connect moms so that they may encourage and support one another, strengthen parenting skills, and grow closer to Jesus. We all want to be the best moms we can be. But to do that, we need God’s wisdom and authentic support and encouragement from other mom-friends. No parent is perfect. Here, we drop pretenses and genuinely care for one another. We want to rejoice in your victories and empathize with your hurts. Regardless of whether or not you are a part of Substance Church, we welcome you to join our tribe!

Fall through Spring

Substance Moms meets on Wednesday mornings from 9:15-11 a.m., September 14 through May, at the Substance Northtown Campus. The morning consists of a casual brunch and socializing, speaker, discussion and prayer time. There is no need to RSVP and you are welcome to come whenever you’re able – be it weekly or the random Wednesday you have off work. We want you there! Childcare is available.

Substance Moms breaks for the summer. Instead of meeting as a large group, women throughout the Twin Cities host book studies, plan playdates and participate in service projects. Email for information on how to access our summer calendar.

Much of our regular communication happens on our Facebook page. Search “Substance Moms” and request to join the group in order to stay updated on our up-and-coming opportunities.

What does childcare cost?
Childcare is provided by Substance Church at no cost to you. However, if you would like to make a free-will offering to help cover the care expenses, you may do so at the childcare check-in.

Do I need to bring food?
Table groups take turns providing brunch for Wednesday morning gatherings, so don’t worry about bringing anything until your table lead coordinates your week for brunch.

Is there something available for working moms who can’t come on weekdays?
Substance Moms hosts periodic evening events, volunteer opportunities and playdates. We also hope to start a regularly-meeting working moms group in the near future. In the meantime, check the Substance Subgroup Catalog to learn about some great subgroups specifically for moms, including: Working Moms at Substance Church.

How can I get more involved?
If you would like to volunteer with Substance Moms in some capacity, send an email to We would love to get to know you and your passions and see how we can put them to use serving our community!
