Be Encouraged

Our mission is to connect moms so that they may encourage and support one another, strengthen parenting skills, and grow closer to Jesus. We all want to be the best moms we can be. But in order to do that well, we need God’s wisdom and authentic support and encouragement from other mom-friends. No parent is perfect. And here, we drop pretenses and genuinely care for one another. We want to rejoice in your victories and empathize with your hurts. Regardless of whether or not you are a part of Substance Church, we welcome you to join our tribe!

Fall through Spring

Morning Moms' Group meets on Wednesday mornings, September 12 through May 22, from 9:15-11 am at the Substance Northtown Campus. The morning consists of a casual brunch and socializing, speaker, discussion and prayer time. There is no need to RSVP and you are welcome to come whenever you’re able – be it weekly or spooradic. We want you there! Childcare is available ($2 per child).

Substance Moms breaks for the summer. Instead of meeting as a large group, women throughout the Twin Cities host book studies, plan playdates, and participate in service projects. Check the Substance Summer Guide for options and details.

Much of our regular communication happens on our Substance Moms Facebook page.
Search “Substance Moms” and request to join the group in order to stay updated on our up-and-coming opportunities. You can also email us at

What childcare is available?
Childcare is available for infants through preschool. Arrangements can be made for older children who are homeschooled or on school break to act as “room helpers.”

What does childcare cost?

Cost is $2 per child, per week. We also ask that moms serve in childcare for 45-minutes, three times a year. This ensures that our kids are well cared for and that no one misses out on the whole morning of community!

Do I need to bring food?
Table groups take turns providing brunch for Wednesday morning gatherings, which happens about six times a year. Your table leader will let you know when it’s time for you to bring something yummy!

Is there something available for working moms who can’t come on weekdays?

Substance Moms hosts periodic evening events and volunteer opportunities. We also partner with some amazing ongoing subgroups! Visit the Substance Subgroup Catalog to learn more about subgroups specifically for moms, including: Working Moms at Substance Church and Single Mom Strong.

How can I get more involved?
If you would like to volunteer with Substance Moms in some capacity, send an email to We would love to get to know you and your passions and see how we can put them to use serving in our community!
