Core Values

While there are many ideas that we value and that we believe make Substance unique,
there is a small set that we have defined as our "Core Values".

If you'd like to learn more about the central beliefs of Substance, check out our Statement of Faith.
If you'd like a bit more explanation on the values below, click here.

At Substance, we value...

  • A church that's a celebration, not a funeral service.

(Not surprisingly, we have thousands of young people who drag their parents to church every week)
  • Preaching God's Word in a way that actually relates to normal people with. normal problems.

(A large portion of our congregation has never attended church before coming to Substance.)
  • Passionate and innovative Worship.

(Which is why we incubate worship song writing and recording in our studio spaces.)
  • Local and Global Missions (like helping the poor).

(We spent over 26% of our income on missions last year.  And we're planting churches in some of the most difficult countries on the earth.)
  • Launching and supporting other great churches even if they're five minutes down the road.

(We have significantly helped fund and launch over 50 new churches locally and across the united states! Every Sunday we have a visiting church planter.)
  • Sharing "sheep" and "resources" with other churches.

(We strive to be non-territorial, non-egocentric, and extremely open handed with any church that preaches Christ. Php.1)
  • Multimedia and preforming arts.

(We have produced dozens of short films, videos, and our brand new "Being Substance magazine.  We are a church of artists.)
  • And we adore fellowshipping with one another outside of church services.

(Which is why we have a small group catalog with endless opportunities to meet all over the metro area.)
